Honestly, he is hurting students more than helping. He jokes around class but neglects to actually teach the material in a way that is effective. This is hard material and someone who takes it more seriously would probably be a much better teacher. Don't take a class with him if you actually want to learn and pass the class!
Jeff is an awesome teacher, and perhaps its because he is still young and in the midst of his doctorine, he's a pretty cool guy. The material can be challenging but you def will learn a lot! If you are interested in taking advanced persuasion, take it with him. He creates the material for the class and makes it really interesting. I would recommend taking any class with Kotz. You do your work and he will respect you, but don't try to mess around with him and give him bs excuses for missing class or work b/c he won't buy it.

Negative:
Jeff Kotz is one of the best teachers I've had at UConn. He actually takes the time to learn every students name and get to know them. I personally thought he was pretty funny which made the class enjoyable to go to and he will also play who wants to be a millionaire in class to help before a test. His exams were pretty hard but nothing more challenging than you should expect for college level. Just make sure you study hard and if you have a problem with a question he will listen and throw it out if you make a good point. Overall, it is a fun, challenging class that will make you learn a lot.

Jeff is young and still carries many characteristics of an undergrad, remaining less than constantly serious. He likes to do something of a comedy routine in class, making jokes just about every minute or two which i've noticed often relate to movies. while enjoyable, this takes attention away from the material, but not too much to worry about. Jeff makes the material very clear and gets through as much as an entire very heavy chapter in a 50 minute class period, which is both admirable and burdensome. if you're going to take jeff's class, be prepared to study very hard because the testing is as stringent as the instruction is elaborate. -jeff's class is enjoyable -you WILL learn plenty -jeff shows attention towards improving his instructing style and cares about his students absorbing the material
