His "lecture notes" are all cute and vague in some Byzantine attempt to persuade you to come to lecture. They're pointless, and he hardly ever covers what's on them. Go to the Morrow Plots and roll around in the dirt -- it'll be a better use of time than his lectures.

This guy is retired, so why in the h*ll did they bring him back to TEACH?! He is dull, his lectures are disorganized and uninformative. His attempt at a website is pitiful. (He must use Word or something to make the pages, then they get messed up in HTML and you have to reformat them!) He's written a couple books, but you'd never guess it from the lectures. He just pounds away at the same old basic themes and interpretations in a nauseating litany of "uh, uh, uh." He leaves all the historical background (important for Brit Lit!) to the Norton anthology introductions --- lazy and inadequate. The course policies are WAY overdone and all the TA's seem to hate working for him. He doesn't seem to have heard of MLA style; his handout for writing papers is RIDICULOUS. Avoid this guy if you can, and tell the department administrators NOT to let him teach EVER AGAIN!

This guy is terrible! It's too bad he teaches ENGL 209, which is required. He should be avoided. Boring, hard to understand, tedious!
