He needs to learn to talk to the students, not the white board!

It took a while for me to appreciate Dr. Alexander's teaching style. At first, he was copying straight out of the book, and gave fairly hard assignments. As the class went on, he became more interesting, and the class got easier.

Not the worst prof ever but: always stands in front of the chalk board so you cannot see what he is writing, talks the the chalkboard instead of the class, does not convey the material well, basically writes the book on the board with out any "real" explanation of what is going on. He could be a good teacher I think but only if he wants to be. I think that it is just a lack of motivation.

If Alexander didn't have the instructors version of the book, he would not have been able to lead this class. The guy rarely knew what he was talking about. If someone asked a question he would stumble over his own work on the board, get lost, then just kind of beat around the bush, and give a foggy and indirect answer to the question. He gets an F- for knowledge of the subject. Don't expect him to see that you have raised your hand for about ten minutes, he talks to the board for the majority of class. His method of reviewing for tests was referring to the course discription, and saying that the test will cover however much of the syllabus. He claims he was a highschool tutor, I wonder how many of his students failed their classes in highschool too!
