If it's not Rob's way, it's wrong. Don't worry about stating your own opinions, if you want to get a somewhat decent grade, go with Rob's point of view for all your papers and discussions. Even if you do everything he tells you though, he still finds an insane amount of things wrong in your paper. He is unclear of what he wants you to do and gives meaningless advice and instructions, leaving you stranded. His classes are not easy, fun, or useful in any way and he's pretty certain that he knows everything about the world, but he doesn't seem to know how to teach.

even if you follow all of his little "hints" to writing a paper, he will desecrate it anyways. Instead of helping students out with papers, he simply crosses out entire paragraphs or pages and says "it doesnt make sense, i've been writing longer than you, i know. take it out"

If you're uber-conservative, don't take this class because you will NOT like what he says. I think he's really interesting to talk to outside of class. He tried to get me to relate my paper to masturbation. "Masturbation is kind of like the epitome of play. It doesn't really do anything FOR you, but you sure have a lot of fun doing it." He had a good point though.
