Sohrab Asgarpoor

Dr. Asgarpoor was strict at times, but in the long run, I learned a lot because of his determination, creation, and teaching abilities. I am very very thankful that I took his class!

He started out like you might like him, then he gets into a spiral and by the time the semester is over you hate him and he hates you. He's not really a bad guy but he is a terrible teacher, you almost feel sorry for him. I think that guy had it right, he posts his own evaluations (the good ones) because there's just no way he can teach. Although you might like him, since he's a bad teacher the only reason to take his class is because he's an easy grader.

I've had many classes with Dr. Asgarpoor. I've received good and bad grades. Yes, some of the material is difficult. Study example problems worked in class. Don't just follow the problem, but know where the numbers are coming from. Many of his test problems are similar to examples from class with subtle changes. If you're going to be critical, first make sure that you've done everything on your part to learn the material. I recommend taking his power classes over other classes he periodically teaches.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. Those who can't even teach, go flip burgers. I hear McDonalds is hiring.

Asgarpoor is not as bad or as good as some comments here suggest. His tests are tough, and he expects explicit knowledge of prerequisite material. Don't take his power class for fun...mainly if you want to go into power. He's good at outside (or afterclass) help, but don't ask a "stupid" question in class. There have been several times I've felt embarrased for peope who asked questions and were made to feel dumb. Overall an ok teacher.
