John Hinson
Washington State University - Main Campus
Department:
Psychology
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
John Hinson is an excellent professor. His lectures are a tad boring, but, then again, statistics classes aren't the most exciting anyway. He's always very quick to assist in anyway and is extremely knowledgeable on the material he teaches. If you have to take Psych311, I'd definitely recommend taking it with Hinson.
For the subject matter I think he did a good job overall. Very organized I will say.. and does extensively/repeatedly goes over the concepts, but I think that helped in sticking the stuff into memory. I do think it is entirely possible to read and do the assignments from the book and get a decent grade in the class as well, so missing class here and there is usually not a big deal :)

Negative:
Psych 311 teacher. Horrible. I despise that class because of this guy. I've heard he is the best in the department and that seriously makes me question the quality of the psych department. I have no idea what motivated this guy to go into psychology, he should not be dealing with humans... he is absolutely a nervous wound up wreck. He has everything is his class planned out to the T. Very organized, I'll give him that, but it takes him about a decade to explain the simpliest concept... making it that much more diffucult to understnad. I found myself being better educated when I just went home and taught myself from the book. Overall... he is a confusing, wound up, impersonal, nervous wreck with eyes the size of golfballs... he should deal only with bugs and numbers. If you happen to have him do yourself a favor and go home and teach yourself from the book. He is useless.
