Shila Baksi
Washington State University - Main Campus
Department:
Anthropology
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
She has low expectations of her students and acts as if she wants them to fulfill these said expectations. She lacks understanding, getting irritated and angry with students at every turn. Don't expect her to care about your doctors note, just don't expect her to care period. Avoid this class at all costs.
Professor Baksi is actually an excellent professor, I have however noticed that people have a bias towards her because of her accent. If you are in need of help and are honest with her she will provide it for you. On occassion what she asks for (on assignments) can be a little unclear, but very rarely. I think she is very strong willed and wants to educate from a female perspective, she isn't biased though, in any way, unless you don't do your work-which leads a professor to obviously see that you have no desire to learn.

Great Professor. Hard to understand in the beginning but gets easier. Exams were easy, gave detailed study guide that was very similar to exam. She is fair and is a nice professor...never talked about Muhammad in my class, if she did..so what. Don't listen to the people whining about her accent. Get over it. Sorry not every professor is WHITE and speaks PERFECT English. Thank god.

Negative:
near impossable to understand sometimes with her accent and tends to lean toward her own female/religious bias'. she has also skipped entire sections of her overheads not even showing them to us because she asked a question about it to the class and the answer given by a student was " close enough" so she just skipped that section. also expects you do DL the notes of the net, if your like me and learn better from actually writing out the notes yourself be prepaired for hand cramps.

Worst professors I've ever had!
The class is hard, but she knows it...I calculated my grade after the final to be a 2.7...my report card showed A-. Clever. She motived me by making me think I was doing bad in the class; in the process I actually learned quite a bit. I didn't witness any overly pro-Muslim tendencies.
