Dr. Alex Smith is a wonderful professor. He is very intelligent, as well as helpful. He always takes the time to answer questions. He will also stay after class to explain difficult concepts to students. When you e-mail him with a question, he always responds the same day... He does require mandatory attendence, and gives extra points for regular participation. I really enjoy his classes, and recommend him to all students! Students who do not understand simply need to take the time to ask him for help, you will be a happy customer!

AVOID AT ALL POSSIBLE COSTS!!!! The mumbles to the board so you can't understand what he is saying. He will not answer question directly or use examples with numbers. He will only prove the theorem. If you have taken Calc in high school, this class shouldn't be that hard. HOWEVER, if you only have a Pre-Calc background, don't even waste your time. Wait until you can have REYNOLDS! I had him for a sub. one day and learned more from him in those 50 mins than I did all semester with Smith.

Alex Smith is a really nice guy but his lectures suck. I basically had to teach calculus to myself. The exams are also overly difficult.

I failed this class as did many of the people in my class and he would not help those who weren't doing well. He is too smart to be teaching this class and goes way too fast for everybody but a select few math majors.
