Carl Schoen
University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire
Department:
Mathematics
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
Schoen has a really weird demeanor. He is "the ultimate stats man" but he more or less assumes that everyone is on the same page as him and doesnt slow down. He doesnt teach on a calculator, gives quizzes every friday, and has very hard tests, the average is usually about 70%.
Positive:
Good professor.
Is creative
Brings discussion into the classroom
Is willing to help students anytime
Comes to class organized
Negative:
Professor is boring or bland
Overall he is a pretty cool guy, he has a weird sense of humor, but i found it entertaining. You don't get to use a note card on the exams like some other profs let you, and he doesn't teach you on the calculator, he wants you to memorize the formulas and be able to do the problems by hand. It is ok because he teaches it to you, but just kind of a bummer.
Positive:
Is challenging
Motivates students to do well
Is willing to help students anytime
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Comes to class organized
Negative:
Professor is boring or bland
Lacks enthusiasm in the classroom
Not a very difficult class, do the homework and you should be fine. He does give quizzes (based directly off the homework) every Friday thought.
