Worst Prof. I've ever had. Class was required or I would've dropped it. Shouldn't be required, worthless for Criminal Justice majors. He is also the only one that teaches it, so he can basically do what he wants. If he offers you a chance to "redo" your paper, don't do it. I made the changes he suggested and still ended up with the same grade with the comment that I had changed nothing. Grades essay part of tests ridiculously hard. You can write down exactly what he said in class and he'll still deduct points. Take a different prof. for other philosophy classes if you can!! UWEC needs to get rid of this pompous jerk!

McAleer is a funny Prof. he will get you to laugh and stay awake but his quizes often trick you on things you are sure you know. He often admits how that one or two questions where there to confuse you or make you think really hard. His questions are really in depth on quizes, they are true false and multiple choice and short answer. You will do the best on the short answers, his TF and MC are very misleading. He will go out of his way to help you and will go out of his way to hold a review session. The reviews are often better than two months of class so go to them. He would be a good prof. to take if you are taking minimum credits for a semester, otherwise it might be too much.

pretty cool guy i guess, but not a cool professor, i would take someone else who may not be as funny but is easier than him. i know of many people that dropped this class after the first exam this semester, A LOT!

He has some very innappropriate but still sometimes funny jokes. Knows a lot about the subject matter himself, and talks about the information a lot, but doesn't really know how to relay the information to students that well. With all of the time spent cracking jokes you would think that he would prepare students for exams, however that is not the case. VERY hard tests unless you add a lot to the conversation in class and he knows your name, then he definately favors you and you may do well on the exams. He's a douchebag...

funny guy, but humor will only get you so far... he is extremely picky on tests and doesn't prepare students enough for this class. my friend is takin the same class but with another teacher who gives easy multiple choice tests instead of ridiculous essay and trick question exams...
