Veena Chadha
University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire
Department:
Mathematics
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
The criticism about her accent is valid, for the first couple weeks of the class. If you still can't understand her, maybe you've just stopped listening. The most irritating thing about her is that more than once her examples didn't work in class and she'd just sit there and stare at it. She DID, however, bring copies for everyone of the example done correctly, every time, to the next lecture. My only real unrectified gripe about her class was that, when she got into her car accident, she took to writing on the overhead projector instead of on the board, and proceeded to leave us all in the dust. As for the poster who griped that she didn't teach material that was relevant to them, perhaps they were in the wrong class? Unlike the people who take the CS291 "Discrete Structures" class, taking Math314 gives you an excellent grasp on doing proofs by induction, which is far more important to a discrete structures class than learning how to program using PROLOG.
Veena is the worst professor I have seen at this university. She is unable to do even "simple" problems in class. Most of the time was wasted on trying to figure out where she messed up, and then eventually just giving up when the end of class came. Sections of the course that would have been most relevant to me were skipped, seemingly because she didn't understand them. Also, if you speak the English language, do not take this prof. She doesn't, and when she tries, its like scraping a chalkboard with rusty nails. I ended up dropping the class (even though I had a B average going) and then taking it the following semester with Alorcon. I'd suggest anyone else to do the same.

For Math 104, she's a breeze. When she makes sense and you can understand her jokes, she's good. Not bad overall, she will answer any question you have and is approachable.

She is a really nice lady but does not relate well to students and tends to not cover everything thouroughly in lectures which leaves you confused. Her class is fairly easy though, and her tests aren't that hard
