Not helpful. Not understanding. HORRIBLE woman. I went into her office after EVERY exam and asked how to improve and she told me after my first exam I needed to be more detailed. After my second exam was handed back I SERIOUSLY had written as a comment.. too much detail. You cannot win with her. Take anyone else ANYONE else besides her. She is acadimic suicide and will ruin your GPA. As a pre-grad student this was torture to not be able to get an A. ALL assginments are subjective and hand written. Nothing like I have ever experienced before. WILL NEVER take her again. PS this was a 100 level course!!!!

She is boring, and expects way too much, and basically seems to have negative opinions of all students

she feels that she can never be wrong, although i must say she was willing to go over what i was doing wrong and whatnot. her tests are essay questions and it's virtually impossible to get anything higher than a B in her class. SHE IS NEVER WRONG

It is my belief that Bergland should come with a warning label that says Caution: Professor will Generally Beat the Will to Live Out of You Repeatedly Throughout the Semester. While she seemed like a very nice and intelligent woman, she had no business being in front of a class; especially at the college level. She was unintentionally condescending towards her students (she felt it necessary to give us a twenty minute lecture about the difference between fiction and nonfiction one morning) and cannot seem to grasp the idea that most of us have, in fact, actually taken a History class before. Overall, my opinion is that being continuously beaten over the head with a blunt instrument would be preferable to starting your day being "ummmmed" to death by this woman.

She seems like a nice woman, but she is also very, very condescending to her students and does not seem to think that we have never gone to school before. Though she has no idea how to correctly use grammer, she will insist on correcting yours in your papers and will get her corrections wrong most of the time. While lecturing, she stands WAAYYYYY too close for comfort. She will ask a question to her students and then will not listen to the answer that those students give. However, she does know a lot about History and seems willing to pass that knowledge on. Overall opinion- she is nice enough but something about her class and her teaching methods need to change before I will take her again.
