She treats you like you are in second grade, over-explaining everything down to the tiniest detail. She doesn't teach at all, she just rambles and has half-hearted discussions. The semester has gone on a little over a month now and so far we have read two (short) chapters in a book and a handful of articles. I can appreciate easy classes, but wow. I am in college to learn, right? I can't believe I'm paying for this.

The discussions for the course were very interesting, and I do feel that POLS 114 was a challenging course (despite what is said in previous ratings). The only thing that made this class stressful were the exams. There are five exams and each one is worth 100 points each. Each exam has only around 30 questions on it, so if you get just a few questions wrong, you're basically screwed in terms of your grade on the exam. Also, Alperin expects you to just magically remember everything she says, including some random fact she says in class. That, grouped with the fact that her Power Point presentations were confusing, made studying for exams very stressful. She's an okay professor, but you do have to work for your grade.
