You either hated him or loved him. I laughed at those who hated them as I felt they just were not there to learn. Absolutely the greatest academic professional I have ever met. AND he is SO funny. He sparked my interest in so many things. Being part of his art history class (which was full and I begged him to let me in) was better than going to the best movie of all time. His history course held me captive. Yes he demanded much of us, but, he helped me learn to demand more of myself. I still keep in touch with him since he has retired.

I am constantly reminded of the positive impact Professor John Buschen has had on my life. He instilled in me the importance of enjoying and appreciating art especially through his art history teachings. This has helped me un-wined after a stressful and hectic day working in the insurance field. I continue to paint and draw. In fact I did a painting of Professor Buschen that I would like to give him some day. Thanks Professor Buschen for your passion and compassion!

Dr. Buschen is an what other professors should strive to be: intelligent, knowledgable, relatable, and demanding. He expects great things of his students and then tries to give them the skills to achieve those things. I took his classes whenever I could because I knew that I would be challenged and enlightened by the process. Anyone who does not care for this professor is, I suspect, too intellectually lazy to appreciate the opportunity to really learn that Dr. Buschen regularly provided.

Absolutely the best professor I've ever had. I took many of his classes and didn't do well in most of them. But I learned to really earn a grade in his class. You can't fool him, so don't ever try, or you'll get the grade you deserve. The most brilliant man I've even encountered. Best professor ever. Also the most difficult. Not a professor for the faint of heart. Only passionate students should apply.

Buschen demanded a lot from his students. He inspired me to do the very best job I could. I find that after 20+ years I still retain most of what I learned in his courses. I also had him for many history courses.
