Keith Chavey
University of Wisconsin - River Falls
Department:
Mathematics
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
Any math class during J-Term moves fast but I thought he was a prepared and interesting teacher. The down side is that what you learn in class is not always in the homework making the home work difficult. Also, his tests are hard and the study guide is very objective.
He's great I would recommend him to anyone i could. I lust wish i could have gotten into his Calc. II class because his Calc. I class was so good. I learned way more in his class than I did in my hs Calc. He does a good job of teaching the fundamentals.
Positive:
Good professor.

Is willing to help students anytime
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Negative:
Needs to involve students in class discussions
Good teacher, but says MMM-Kay way to often. He always made me think of Mr. Mackey the guidance counselor on South Park.

Negative:
Chavey was great. History of Math isn't an easy class, but he makes it interesting...I mean, how interesting can math history be? However, he finds a way to make it fun. My only negative is that the class is very quiet. He needs to get the class to participate and we could learn that much more.

Keith is a good guy, he knows his material, hes the chairman of the dept, so hes going to know his stuff. He teaches fairly well. You do have to think out side of the box in a way to make it in his class, he wants you to konw the processes more than getting the right answer, he'll give you 7 out of 10 points if you did the process right but got the answer wrong, or even made up an answer. Learn the processes and you'll get your grade. Took him for 146 College Algebra over J term so it was a fast paced 3 week course.
