Bergie is one of the most interesting individuals out there. You usually find yourself dozing off in his classes, but his material he teaches is really interesting and he deffinetly is enthused by it. Don't sit in the front row, could possibly get spit on. Look at his manerisms and you'll get entertained in class. He'll say a lot that "Now pay attention, really zero in on me here, this is the ONE thing you'll need to remember this whole semester." and then he will proceed to say that 5 times every lecture. Talks with his eyes closed so good luck with that. Other wise he was great and made class challenging, the grade you get is deffinetly the grade you earn.

Oh good lord--Ornithology is a nightmare. This is a senior level class--he does way too much hand holding. Please Dr. Bergland, STOP PAUSING to repeat what has been said OVER & OVER.

Bergland has two sides. He is a great professor if you show an intrest in his class and will go out of his way to help you anyway he can refernces etc. He doesn't have take the time to deal with slackers

He's a good guy at heart and works hard to make sure everyone understands the material. For BIOL 344, he works hard getting the class involved, but isn't always able to because there is a good amount of information he needs to go over. This class is hard, but not overly difficult. If you go to class, participate and take good notes, you should do fine. He's very good at letting you know what he expects you to know. He's also very helpful outside of class. You don't need to hestitate going to him for help.
