Amanda Helms

Professor Helm is an annoyance to have for any class. Currently I am taking her for Marketing 350. Her notes are horrible and lectures are worse. She says in an 1 hr 15 mins what anyone else can say in 20 mins. She grades unfairly. If you debate with her why she has taken points off, she is unable to justify her answer and, instead, gives critiques she never mentioned in the first place. She is horrible at getting any grades back to students. It is currently week 12 and I have received 2 grades (out of about 10 assignments) back. The worst thing for me was the entire class period she spent preaching her religion. It was unprofessional and it upset a lot of students. I'd warn anyone against taking her.

Amanda really isn't as bad as this says. There is a ton of pointless busy work but its not hard getting an A or a B is a given. She is terrible with getting assignments back and she lectures slowly with wayyy too many stories but services marketing has interesting material so its tolerable. I'd take her shes much better than some of the other marketing professors at Whitewater.

Her lectures are pointless and often don't make much sense. Lectures on a chapter can span up to 3 class periods when it should only take one. She is absolutely horrible with getting papers back in a timely manner. For the project, I think once we got our papers back on time to correct them, otherwise due dates were pushed back so far that a bunch of stuff had to be crammed into the end of the semester. Her comments on the papers were useful and needed, but they were sometimes unclear and when correcting the paper, we'd get downgraded in the end because of it. The most annoying thing ever....she'll make a comment she thinks is funny, stand there and smile and not say anything for like 15 seconds. Don't take this professor if you can help it.

Concept of the class is great, she just doesn't know how to teach it. Group project isn't too bad, its due at different portions of the semester, but does take some work. She's horrible with getting grades back which then pushes deadlines back until the absolute end of the semester. Her lectures are pointless and it often takes two to three class periods to get through a chapter. Don't take her if you don't have to.
