I love Betty Diamond! She is a great professor. I hated English all through high school, but when I came into her class it was like a completely different subject. Yes, she is challenging. She will push you, but if you're willing to do the work you will be rewarded. She is always willing to help a student whether it's to revise a paper, start a paper, or just understand what you're writing. She might seem a bit out of the ordinary, but she is the nicest lady with a warm heart and passion for writing and teaching others to write. Also, she has some very interesting stories in case you ever get to talking about anything besides english. So overall, you definitely have to work for an A, but it's very attainable and you'll appreciate all you learn in the process.

Betty Diamond certainly knows how to challenge her students. Going beyond mere attendance, she expects her students to act as writers: Give feedback to fellow students in workshop,try techniques we haven't tried before, and of course rewrite a few times. (This is necessary to even have a shot at an A, by the way) This can be good and bad depending on the persistence of the student in question. Should you take Betty for Playwriting, these things are needed to be successful: 1.) keep on top of your daily assignments 2.)give through feedback on your classmates work 3.)and always,(and I mean always!) be prepared on your workshop day.

I really enjoyed Betty's Creative Writing instruction. I am a professional writer, yet I learned SO much from her in this course! She inspired me to stretch myself, tell new stories, and gave me the tools to do better, every day. She's not easy -- she's not a pushover -- you will have to work in her class and do the assignments, and they're not always easy. But I'd definitely recommend her as an instructor!

I've always loved English, and Diamond makes her lectures very interesting. You can tell she loves her job, and she's a very fair grader. If you have a problem with a paper, she's willing to compromise and help you. She's very nice and approachable. I enjoyed her class so much I signed up for her for another class. I would highly recommend Diamond!
