Bill Tatman

Tatman is by far one of the best professors in the accounting department! The MC on the test are difficult, but the essay are pretty simple. He is a difficult grader, but it always very fair. His stories during class definately make lectures more entertaining & easier to understand! Also, he knows everyone by name within the first week or two of class. He seems to know each one of his students on a personal basis.

Prof. Tatman cares about every one of his student's success! He makes a difficult subject much easier! He learns EVERYONE's name by the second class! I truly feel like he cares about us as individuals. He promotes an environment where learning is FUN and where I'm NEVER afraid to ask questions! MOST LIKELY THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD! GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO TAKE HIM AND YOU WILL THANK ME LATER!!!!

Prof. Tatman is a cool guy. It feels like he is your best friend and he takes interest in students' lives outside of class. Auditing is tough but he does a good job of teaching it. His lectures are organized and he tells you what to study for exams. You can proably guess what material will be tested in form of short answer/problems from his lecture material once he tells you what is on exam. Multiple choice is tough because the questions are similar to CPA exam but the subjsective portion is very possible to do well on. He tries to involve class in homework and lecture and it seems to work because participation is part of the grade. His exams are tough and span 4-5 chapters but the class covers pretty much 21 chapters so nothing unusual there. His assignments and projects stress auditing concepts and teamwork as well as some research. In the end, you can look at the assignments you did and be proud of them, unlike in some other classes. On the personal side, Prof. Tatman is really nice. He knows students' names the second day of class and interacts with everyone. You can just take 30 min and talk to him; he is very approachable if you care about the class and make an effort. Greets class with enthusiasm and energy and never runs out of stories from proffessional experience to tell. Those are more interesting often than the material itself and worth being in class for. Just study your notes, read the book and enjoy his teaching method because he communicates material well and in a no-nonsense way.

Tatman is seriously the best professor/teacher I have ever had. You honestly cannot say one bad thing about him. Not only does he teach at Whitewater, but he is the C.F.O. for a big home-building company in Milwaukee and is a Whitewater graduate. He knows what he is talking about. Accounting is not an easy subject matter, but he makes it a whole lot easier. His lectures are always extremely organized and have all the important information needed for the exams. He will do whatever it takes to help you. He usually takes a personal day from his home-building job and comes down to work with students on the day of a test. He stays in his office for the whole day answering questions that students may have. He is always available during office hours and if those don't work out for you, he will find a time that works. His review sessions and study guides prepare you the best for the exams. Before every exam, he looks through the exam and makes up a study guide containing all the information that you need to study. He has a great passion for teaching and loves his students. He knows everyone's name by the second class at the latest. He tells everyone of his students that he is there for them no matter what from the day they enter his classroom until they graduate. He is by far the best professor at Whitewater and is a great professor to have. Do what ever you can to take Accounting with Tatman. You won't regret it!!!!
