Brian Lucas

Brian Lucas is a Nob Job. He is one of the worst professors I have ever had. He made an introductory Speech Class much more difficult than it needed to be. His tests were retarded and he doesnt know how to grade people on their speeches. Grading was horrible, teaching was horrible, overall he sucked.

I had Lucas for Introduction to Mass Communication and Radio Practicum. He is a really down to earth guy, and you can make the best out of your experience at Whitewater by making friends with him. He is knowledgeable of his stuff, and definitely facilitates discussion in all of his classes. My only problem would be the tests, although his discussions cover a lot, he assigns readings and even then, some of the questions on the 4 exams were impossible. He also took forever to return our only project we turned in. I learned a lot and he definitely made the lectures enjoyable with his sense of humor. If you realize that you actually need to study, do well on the project, and that its hard to get an A. you can still do well! Take professor lucas if you need another elective or a class filler. Totally, awesome prof.

Anyone who has the drive to protect or boost a GPA this is the wrong prof. to have! He refuses to grant A's unless he deems you worthy. He is rude, arrogant and combative in conversation. He lectures, annouces chapters to be read and then puts entirely different material on the test. This has been the worst experience of my college education.

Prof. Lucas is an amazing teacher who obviously enjoys what he teaches. However, he sometimes adds questions to his tests that we clearly never went over, and I personally found that frustrating. Also, he is famous for slurring words or mumbling--just make sure if you didn't catch something to ask him right away (he won't bite your head off, i promise!). Other than that, I would take a class of his again (which I am).

Lucas is a great guy. This isnt the easiest speech class but its fun. Ya its hard, but do your work and you can get a B. Sorry but A's are extremely difficult. If you understand that, you will get more out of the class.
