Carlene Mcmonagle

Studying voice involves work. Anyone criticizing Mrs. McMonagle probably does not practice, read her assignments, or ask for help. I am a graduate from UW-Whitewater, currently employed as a high school choral director and use things that she taught me every day I work with students. Carlene inspired me to teach students not only to sing well, but to be well-rounded and expressive musicians. I cannot believe that people are so critical of her when she goes so far out of her way to help students. Perhaps she has trouble sometimes communicating the subject matter, but people need to do the readings in pedagogy, get a fricking dictionary and try to understand the terminology, and suck it up. Voice is a very complicated subject to teach because it involves science, art, poetry, and has highly technical vocabulary. If you want to learn, at least 3/4 of the responsibility is on you, not the teacher. If I would have worked harder while I was at Whitewater, I know I would have learned a lot more.

Yes, you will need to work really hard, but if you don't want to do that then, why are you studying voice? If you want greatness and give her your best then she will help make you the best that you can be, she is one of the best that there is!

Will personally insult you many times. Is elitest. She is obviously jealous of her students and takes it out of them. She tries to diagnose her students with physical problems. She is very ditzy and may or may not recall what she told you to do last week. She likes to touch students inappropriately. dike

Carlene is great, if you're willing to bust your butt. Only take her if you're willing to work extremely hard; she knows her stuff, but you'd better as well.
