My favorite teacher this semester. He really knows what he's talking about and though some find him boring, i found him fascinating...There no tests and u only have to go to class one day a week not two. All the quizzes are online also...He is a great professor, and u don't even have to go to class to get an A...just do the online stuff and ur fine...i got an A+ in his class and just blew it off completely. Very easy A.
I had Henige for WOTA with my learning community, and most of us agree that he was prejudiced against us and changed the class. He did make us come to class on Fridays when he didn't other years, he gave us more tests, quizzed every week, sometimes more than one, lengthy discussions, and everything was on D2L. I heard he was great, and easy, but for us he was an ARROGENT JERK and he was HARD! He once told us that he might as well be teaching a class of kindergarteners for how well we spell...stay away if you can, but he might be better for u if your not in a learning community.

Henige seems to regard time spent teaching as time wasted. He relied heavily on his internet resources for "teaching," took long periods off for trips to France for "research," and spoke with an arrogance I found distasteful. His assessments often asked for specific facts or dates that he himself either never mentioned during lectures or only briefly stated. Henige's favorite test questions ask you to identify an object which may have some of the characteristics he briefly pointed out on totally different objects three weeks ago. His powerpoints consist of mostly pictures and a few dates, leaving one scrambling to write down his words while sketching slides of objects which, while available online, had no captions or text. Great for visual learners, bad news for everyone else.
