David Goldblum
University of Wisconsin - Whitewater
Department:
Geography
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
His best qualities as a professor are his ability to relate to students on a personal and professional level, his level of commitment toward making sure every student learns the material, and his overall respect for students as people. His classes are just challenging enough to make you learn without excessive frustration. Assignments and tests can be a bit lengthy, though (nobody's perfect). Overall, classes with him have been very positive experiences! Dr. Goldblum, will you marry me?
This is the first class I've had where I can take the material I learn and naturally apply it directly to the real world. As long as you attend class and study the lecture material you should do well. The book was a good reference for anything I wasn't quite sure on (which wasn't much). He's got a wonderful since of humor. He might sneak his jokes past you if you're not paying attention. His laid back attitude makes him approachable. He's also one of the most organized professors I've had. Goldblum uses powerpoint, with lots of photographs for illustrating different geographical phenomenons. I think you'll throughly enjoy his portion of the class. Beware of Travis, if they team teach. I would almost say they are polar opposites, far as teaching methods and exams go. It's quite a transition from one to the other. That doesn't mean you should avoid Dr. Travis, but be aware they are vastly different.

Goldblum was such a good teacher! I was sad to see he was only around for the first half of the semester, since it was team taught. I never got an A on test, but still got an A in the class from the curve. Everything else is pretty easy...(don't read, focus on the notes)

Dr. Goldblum is awesome as it is, but go to his office hours... he all but gives you the test. He really takes the time to sit down with you and go over anything you don't understand and he'll ask for your feedback on past tests!
