David Mott

If you are a good public speaker, expect an A or B. If not, it's all up in the air. There is no rhyme or reason to the way he grades you. If you don't pick a speech topic that interests him, he will completely tune you out and make up a random grade for you. I got an A in the class, but several of my classmates were treated extremely unfairly by him. He would tell his students face to face that he tuned out their speech because it was not interesting to him. Morale of this story: Take Mott if you are willing to write speeches on electronics and televisions because that is all that interests him. He is almost always late to class and never has a clue as to what is going on for the day. He frequently changes due dates and is always getting dates mixed up and confused. And don't even bother asking him about why he gave you a certain grade because first of all he is never wrong and secondly, he frankly doesn't remember why he gave you that grade in the first place. This class taught me nothing and was a waste of time and money. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS.

Prof Mott is one of the best professors that i have had here at UWW. My speeches were never bad but they weren't good eather and still they were all around the 90% mark. The one test given i scored 100% without studing. Also every wednesday night i had bowling league and Prof Mott was there all the time, more then willing to take a drink with you. I think this might have helpped my grade alot!! You ROCK Mott!!

Pretty interesting teacher, but expect to get a B unless you're a great public speaker.

Why doesn't Mott have tons of good reviews? He was awesome! Old Doc Mott likes to casually talk about beer and his belly, and he made Speech fun with his hilarious stories and one-liners. Speech 110 was easy--most classes were either discussions, some optional note-taking, or just watching people's speeches, which were always funny cause Mott wasn't strict. You do a fun show-and-tell speech, plus an informative speech and persuasive speech, (people always bring in food for their speeches!) and there's no homework except preparing for those speeches. The final exam was just 25 true or falses! (most of them common sense!) I had a lot of fun with Mott, and would have gotten an easy A+ except I got marked down a bit for sometimes saying "um" and not standing perfectly straight.

That class was a waste of time. I didn't learn a thing, and only got more irritated as the weeks progressed.
