Psychology
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
Her worst trait is being unorganized, but she takes her unorganization into account when grading tests. Very understanding when you meet with her one on one. This isn't the easiest subject matter, but she does her best to help you understand it. She gives plenty of opportunity for questions and won't make you feel stupid for asking them. She reviews a class period before tests in which she gives lots of hints about what questions to expect. Sometimes she actually told us a few answers that would be on the upcoming test as a bonus for attending class the day before the test. She really curves the grades for tests. I ended up with way over 100% for my final grade. If you pay attention in class you don't need to spend time reading the book. A lot of people skipped a lot of classes because it was boring sometimes, so they lost attendence points which hurt them in the end. She really gets down to basics when explaining a new concept, so if you come to class there's no reason you can't get an A.
Positive:
Good professor.
I would recommend this professor
Is interesting/entertaining/funny
Is creative
Shows a love of teaching
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Negative:
Professor is boring or bland
Notes/lecture is confusing
Aks is great professor. She goes over information in class throughly, which may seem a little redundant. However, it aids in the memorization of materials that appear on the exam. Most exam questions cover material from class and online lecture notes. If you focus your studying on those two areas you shouldn't have any problem getting a B or better. Psychological of Perception can be very absract and technical. Aks keeps things interesting by providing examples in class of psychological phenomena. She hardly ever mentioned politics in class, when she did she related it to the material we were studying. Since when is it a sin to talk politics anyway, when it relates to class?

I would recommend this professor
Is interesting/entertaining/funny
Brings discussion into the classroom
Shows a love of teaching
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Has enthusiasm in the classroom
Negative:
Confusing or hard to understand
After reading all of the comments here, I was expecting perception to be really bad. On the contrary, I found her lectures interesting and her first 2 tests to be pretty easy. Her final was pretty hard, but I think she always grades with a curve. I got over 100% on those first 2 tests without really reading the book. I think some of these comments are overly harsh. She is a little unorganized, but she's also very easy going and laid back. I talked to her about a test question that I thought was unfair, and she threw it out!

Negative:
Overly difficult tests or assignments
Notes/lecture is confusing
Very unorganized and has unclear expectations. The book didn't help me at all. I had no idea what my grade was during the entire class because she takes a long time to get grades back. A nice enough person, but not a great professor.
