Dennis Baskin

Everything everyone has said on this page is true. If you have a thick skin then I suppose you can get by with the weekly harassment but if not you will hate him! You can pull off an A if you are good at teaching yourself material because he literally teaches you nothing. Tons of busy work which he claims as "extra points" but i'm pretty sure he just makes up grades. "Lectures" took 25 minutes of our 2 hr 15 min night class and he spent the remainder of the class period attempting to get into general argument with students who disagreed with his point of view. Easy A if you aren't a moron but hes a joke as a professor and makes you wonder about this whole college thing and what exactly you are paying tuition for?

Professor Baskin is full of bull crap. He is by far the worst professor I've had in the entire history. He puts students on the spot whether they like it or not. He says he cares about students, when in fact he only likes to make them feel low and stupid. He thinks that he has all the power in the world so he has the right to make students feel dumb. When two people got D's on our first exam, instead of encouraging them to do better, he announced to the class that those people should just drop the class. All he clearly cares about his money and his career. On the first day of class he announced that he doesn't care if anyone reported him to the Dean because if he loses this job then he has another job that's already paying him 6 figures. Overall, don't take him if you don't like to be put on the spot and talk a lot. I AM WARNING YOU, DO NOT TAKE BASKIN! HE IS FULL OF ROTTEN EGGS! The class itself isn't bad, it's just how he teaches that is HORRIBLE! He's all about $ and himself. PERIOD

I really don't understand why everyone hates him. I think his class is so fun and I looked forward to it. It was such a joke and we all had so much fun. He is reasonable and wants everyone to pass. He goes out of his way to explain that he wants everyone to succeed and sets up the syllabus so everyone gets at least an A or a B. Other org. behavior classes are so much worse and lots of my friends have C's in other teachers. The first day he told us last semester 37 out of 50 of his students got A's. The rest got B's. No one even got a C! The exams are highly vocab oriented and not easy if you don't study. However, if you put a little time into it, they are a breeze. I'm not going to deny the fact that he is cocky, but aren't we all sometimes? He is so funny and likes to have a good time. Some students in our class openly called him cocky and arrogant, and he'd always laugh and say he wasn't. He likes to talk about money, but doesn't make students feel worthless like other posts say. I don't know if he was so much cooler in our class or what, but I think everyone seemed to like him. I'd definitely recommend him for an easy and fun class!

Well my last review of Baskin was removed so I will make sure to list only facts for this review. Baskin, you already wrote a review about yourself here to counteract the bad grades that students gave you and I would not doubt if you have had comments removed on here for students saying how things really are. If this one gets deleted too, I'll just keep reposting it. Let prospective students know what they are getting into. In my opinion, you are NOT a good professor. 1) Dennis brags about his money in almost every class. In my opinion, he looks down and students and students often feel belittled in his class. In my opinion, he has a certain degree a arrogance about his financial position, which is something that does not need to be brought into the classroom. One other thing is that he is NEVER wrong in an argument. He will talk louder than you, angrier than you, and change the subject so money times that you don't even know what you're talking about anymore... and somehow he feels that that is what "winning an argument" actually is. 2) He does not teach real-world information. His classroom discussions and tests are strictly by the book. Each week, we go through at least one chapter and MEMORIZE definitions. That is all. We did not learn any real-world applications of the information. Our exams were 100-150 multiple choice questions on definitions of words. 3) He does not actually read your assignments or final paper. Throughout the semester, you have to turn in your questions for each chapter. You can write whatever you want as your answers. No matter what you write, you will get a good grade as long as it looks like you did something. The final paper went something like this: We spend a couple weeks on this paper and gave a final presentation. The paper was worth 200 points. Everyone received 200 points unless you didn't have page numbers on your paper, which you then received 190 out of 200. The content of the paper was not graded. 4) The exams are overly difficult. It is nearly impossible to remember 150 definitions of Org. Behavior terms. 5) You're lucky to reach him outside of class if you have a question. If you e-mail him, give him at least a week to get back to you. And the end of the semester, he often buys his students off with grades that they did not deserve. In my opinion, that is how he keeps getting the opportunity to come back and teach here. This class was a major disappointment. Please do not take him!
