Phanord's class was the very first college class I ever took. 8:50AM on that first Monday morning. By 9:40, I was about ready to drop out. He is extremely intelligent and knowledgable about mathematics, but he is a terrible teacher. On top of not being able to understand him due to his accent, he teaches material not in the book and doesn't explain it enough to where it might make sense. I got an A in his class, but it was through a small loophole that I don't think very many students knew about - you wouldn't get a lower semester grade that what you got on his cummulative final. So I just made sure I got an A on the final, which wasn't actually that hard. I wouldn't recommend taking Phanord for a class, unless you feel like going insane.
Positive:
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Negative:
Would not recommend this professor
Confusing or hard to understand
Expectations are unclear or lofty
Notes/lecture is confusing
Phanord is the Chair of the Math Department. This man works for NASA in his spare time. Unfortunately, he cannot teach. My impression of math at Whitewater is this: it doesn't matter which teacher you take, because they are all foreign and very smart but very difficult to understand. I recomend going to the Math labs provided by the Math majors on campus and simply reading and practicing to learn math 'round here!
