Elena Levy-nevarro

Professor Levy-Navarro is the best professor I've ever had so far. There were only 3 essays we had to write and pretty much if you followed the requirements and participated occasionally in class, you were guaranteed a B. It was a lot of work for an A, but she was totally fair about it. Otherwise, the class is pretty easy because we just looked at a few poems and a couple plays the whole semester and then proceeded with our research papers. Although the research paper was hard and confusing at first, she was willing to help you emensely in any step of the process. She seemed a little weird at first because she likes talking about weird things in poems like a vigin raped by worms in Andrew Marvell's "To His Coy Mistress", but once you get past that, she is a very kind, nice lady. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

I cannot believe some of the negative reviews my classmates have given this teacher! She is completely fair and helpful, she is available to her students above and beyond most professors and more than willing to guide any student that might be struggling with the material. Class participation does reflect in a students grade, and it is not a matter of "kissing her butt" as one student posted, it is a matter of showing that you read the material and are willing to engage in a discussion about that material. The only way a student will do poorly in her class is if that student is lazy, or incapable of analytic thought.

For this class we're supposed to be learning about "major historical periods, world cultures, and diverse perspectives". All we did was talk about "male friendship" in 6 different books. That's not really that diverse. There are also different ways a lot of the readings could have been interpreted, yet she turns it directly to the men having homosexual relationships and doesn't really give you another way of looking at it. If you actually want to learn something that is worth while and not listen to the same thing over and over again about different books, I wouldn't take her as a professor.

Professor Levy-Nevarro is an excellent professor. She doesn't believe in just giving good grades in exchange for sitting in class and doing nothing. The course was based on numerous readings, and if you did the readings, the final exam was extremely easy. She is a difficult grader on the 3 papers, but you could hand them in early and get feedback on all of them. It really is too bad that so many people comment on a professor's weight, as if that has ANY thing to do with her as a teacher- not surprising that people that ignorant would struggle in college courses. Levy-Nevarro was one of my favs, she was interested in the material and was willing to help any and all that cared enough to ask. Great Professor, sweet lady- you need to work hard, but she is very fair.

This woman is pure evil. The class is 3 papers and a final. She doesn't read your papers and your grades on the papers are based on how much you kiss her butt in class. Under the comments sections on d2l she made comments about my paper that were false. The final is also extremely difficult with her requiring you to memorize a lot of meaningless information. She will also require you to read a story about Japanese men and their teenage male lovers. The lady is also well over 400 lbs with a butch hair cut. She also takes attendance so you are forced to sit and listen to a 400 lb butch stand up there and get out of breath going on and on about japanese male lovers. I wouldn't recommend this lady to my worst enemy.
