Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
Dr. Ellen Smith gives you excellent knowledge that you will use in the classroom and in your life. Her cultural immersion projects can be life changing and she opens your eyes to things you never thought existed. I learned so much from her and am very glad I took her class.
I loved Ellen. She was such a hoot in the classroom. BEWARE CONSERVATIVES: you will get torn apart! Which is good, because you're obviously going into education and you're going to have to reevaluate your political views as an educator. She's an easy B at least, and is a little bothered by those who are knowledgeable.
Positive:
Good professor.
Great teaching methods/approach
I would recommend this professor
Is interesting/entertaining/funny
Is creative
Brings discussion into the classroom
Shows a love of teaching
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Involves students in every lecture
Has enthusiasm in the classroom
Negative:
I had Smith for Child Devel. I had to take her online section. I would NOT recommend Smith especially her online section. Most assignments she would be brief with what she wanted and then down grade you if it wasn't exactly what she wanted. When I would redo the assignment with what she asked for, I still got down graded. Perhaps she is different when you have her in a normal classroom setting, however I feel Smith screwed me over and do not recommend her.
Positive:
Is willing to help students anytime
Negative:
Would not recommend this professor
Confusing or hard to understand
Expectations are unclear or lofty
Makes class too challenging
Worst professors I've ever had!
Smith is a very good professor. She is very insightful and understands students well. She has a great background in diversity issues and brings great experiences into the classroom. She's an easy A if you go to class and do the simple assignments. The only thing I found slightly boring about her is her constant role playing scenes. I would have hoped for some more ways to discuss issues. She is very flexible with the students and is willing to change deadlines or assignments. Very good teacher all around.

Negative:
She believes she is the ultimate authority on diversity. The assignments she liked best were the ones I called "I hate America" papers. She teaches that if you are not a minority, then you should be ashamed of yourself and beg everyone else's forgivness.
