Dr. Hipchen is an amazing teacher! Those that are not serious about learning should not take her class as she maintains a pretty rigorous reading schedule and expects active class discussion. But for the serious students out there, you will find her to be an incredibly intelligent, knowledgeable, funny professor. Even though she asks a lot of her students, I found it was worth in in the long run -- I learned so much in her class, and it was the only lit class I had that I truly enjoyed going to each week. She may seem intimidating at first, but she was really helpful when I was having problems with a paper. She also takes care to get to know each of her students. I had her for Brit Lit Survey as a sophomore, and when I was a senior she still remembered who I was and said hi to me when we would pass in the halls. I highly recommend her!
