To ANYONE expecting art classes to be nice and easy, we aren't in the pony ring of High School anymore. Grow up and do your work on time, when the prof asks you to. Explore subject matter that is more than just your favorite rap star or cartoon. I had Greg for painting 1 and am now taking adv painting with him. He really does care about his students. You have to show him that you care about art first, and that you are serious about doing good work. As for homework on the weekends, and hours in the studio, welcome to real life. Art doesn't just appear within 5 minutes, and your first idea isn't always your best one. Greg isn't going to sugar-coat his critiques for you. He will never say your work sucks but he will tell you what you can do better. Criticism is what makes you a better artist. Don't expect him to be like your HS art teacher who said everything you did was phenomenal. Heed his advice, you'll thank him later when you really do crank out phenomenal work.
I've actually had Greg for a few different art studios and I'd say he is by far my favorite art professor. I've learned a lot from him. I feel much of my success I've had with painting is because he has challenged me and encouraged me to further involve myself in my art. I enjoy the creative projects he assigns, he really knows what he is doing. I've heard complaints from former students, but I can't justify the excuses I hear from them. Yeah, Greg is a tough grader, but that's the point, he wants you to earn the grade you deserve. I've gotten A's in all of the classes I've taken with him, but I seriously worked my *** off and went beyond expectations to get them. Plus, remember you can't succeed in art without some criticism. Greg is a really cool person, so if you get on his good side, you'll benefit from learning about sweet bands and have interesting conversations. If you show dedication, he will recognize it with gratification. I will miss him once I leave after I graduate :(

greg is probably the best teacher ive ever had. all of these people say he sucks are little whiny bitches and he does this stuff to weed out the poor art students. all of you complainers should just not be art majors, it isnt what you think, art is not easy and you will enjoy his class if you enjoy drawing/painting. its a hard class being in there with him if you dont do your work, and if you do this is the best professor to ever have.

Greg knows his stuff! As for grades, he has high expectations of his students because he wants you to be a successful artist. I think it is hard for everyone to work at the same speed but this is a clasroom, so there are challenges. He is a "real" person.
