Greg Valde

For a class that should be relatively straight forward and understandable, the professor prefers to make the expectations unclear and unfair in comparison to almost any other professor at UW Whitewater and uses semantics to legitimize his self-righteous behavior. He comes across during class like a fun but strange guy who is occasionally funny. However, he enjoys using material on his tests that is rarely covered in class. The tests would not be difficult if the material selected from the textbook seemed pertinent to study. Instead of using important information on tests he chose to select the most mundane portions just to "nail the little bastards" with their grades. Also, don't expect to miss class even if your at an important appointment for your health or health of a family member, or a funeral-even if you e-mail this professor. He believes that his class should be attend above all else and if any classes are missed they should be made up, it will SEVERELY affect your grade.

Valde is hands-down the BEST professor I've ever had. He's funny, he's incredibly smart, class is so interesting, and you learn so much. His tests aren't all that hard if you've paid attention, and he lets you have a cheat sheet, so anyone who complains about his tests are just whiners. Valde rocks. I learned so much in his class, and it was really a class that I looked forward to.

He's alright. I'd recommend that all females take him because he favors that gender to the extreme. He's going to kid around with you too, and when he does, DO NOT KID BACK. If you kid back he takes it personally, and you'll be on his shit list the rest of the semester. To earn his respect you're going to have to participate a lot. Those who don't participate he ignores, and doesn't think highly of you.

Honestly I adore Valde - he's probable my favorite professor on campus. His tests went a bit into the extreme but he's just pushing us as students - and take full advantage of the page of notes! He does a variety of teaching methods and connects with each and every student. He's absolutely amazing - take him if you can!

Valde is incredible. I've never been so excited to go to class and doubt I ever will be again. He taught us so many useful things about kids and classroom management that I know I will use throughout my teaching career. His humor and enthusiasm is contagious and he always involved us in class. He "modeled" some techniques and it worked wonders in showing us just how we can be effective teachers. He gives a straightforward, simple syllabus in the beginning of the semester and everything you need to know is on it. It's refreshing to get an education professor with some real-world experience in secondary schools. This guy truly challenges you and forces you to think in-depth. Dr. Valde is by far the best professor I have ever had--you will not be disappointed.
