He is extremely funny and I loved him as a teacher, but the problem is that the tests are so hard that the first test the highest grade was a B...AFTER he added the curve!!! originally the highest grade was a C. He told us to have general concepts and ideas for the tests and we didn't have to remember all of the names of people just to mainly look over the notes, but in reality everything was from the text and things were extremely specific! I loved listening to him in class, and it was nice that there were no homework assignments except for one group project the whole term, but if you take this class, make sure you fully read the text several times if you want a decent grade!! Also, we had to buy a $62 book that was barely used :(
Grigsby seems like a good guy, but sometimes i found that his exams were too challenging! he graded our exams on a curve so that noone could get an A, and the highest grades on tests were about 70%. He always says if you just get the concepts, youll do fine-but then when we got the tests, it was always very specific questions about the readings, or about things we hadnt really even covered. the kid next to me studied for a week for the second test and went over all the material repeatedly, and still was only able to manage a 71! Also, i had to buy a $60 book that he co-wrote with some profs from Madison, which we hardly ever used. he IS a good professor, but i really would not reccomend him for this specific class!
Positive:
Good professor.
Is interesting/entertaining/funny
Is challenging
Shows a love of teaching
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Negative:
Would not recommend this professor
Expectations are unclear or lofty
Overly difficult tests or assignments
Needs to involve students in class discussions
Makes class too challenging
Dr.Grigsby is by far one of my favorite professors. He's very knowledgeable and knows what he's talking about. There is only 1 quiz and 2 exams, but he goes over the information over and over, so it's kind of hard not to know what's going to be on them. He brings up a lot of issues and situations going on today that many professors don't or aren't willing to bring up. He can be kind of boring and dull at first, but if you are truly interested and pay attention this class will truly benefit you in the end. I've learned a lot from Dr. Grigsby and highly recommend him to anyone else considering taking him.

Negative:

Notes/lecture is confusing
i took this class because i needed diversity credits and this was the only class left that i could find. during class, all you do is copy notes from powerpoints as he will randomly call on people to add discussiion to topics we havent covered yet. it felt like highschool! i went to class everyday, did most of the readings, and studied my butt off for the tests which have questions that are paragraphs of their own. he seemed like a nice guy in general, but you can definately tell who he likes more in class which is unfair. plus, you better have an extra $50 to buy a book of his that he wrote which he requires.
Positive:

Has enthusiasm in the classroom
Negative:

Worst professors I've ever had!
Grigsby is a very nice man and conducts an enjoyable class. However this is where his positive characteristics end! His tests are imposible each multiple choice question is 5-8 sentances long and each answer could be right. He grades extremely unfair and gives higher grades to people he likes. Overall I would recomend everyone to never take this man you will learn nothing except the feeling of getting an undeserved terrible grade!!!
