Jeff Zalar
University of Wisconsin - Whitewater
Department:
History
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
This is the most difficult professor I have ever had, he goes WAY to fast with his notes, is is VERY intelligent, but he expects everyone to be on the same level of intelligence as him. He is very knowledgable about his history, but I don't think he should be teaching freshman level class.
Zalar was a decent professor. At first, he seemed a bit boring, and class would drag on. But one day he had a phenomenal lecture and got my attention. He can be funny at times, pausing the lecture to say, "guys, this is really great stuff." His signature is when he literally orgasms from time to time during his lectures, meaning he really gets into them. He knows his stuff though, and highly encourages his students to visit his office hours.
Positive:
Great teaching methods/approach
I would recommend this professor
Is interesting/entertaining/funny
Is challenging
Is creative
Brings discussion into the classroom
Motivates students to do well
Shows a love of teaching
Involves students in every lecture
Has enthusiasm in the classroom
Negative:
I thought Professor Zalar was a great teacher! His class is tough, but very very interesting. He is a tough grader, but he wants you to do your best work. He does give out a good amount of extra credit if you take advantage of it. Also, there is a lot of reading in his class but the novels are all really good!
