Jeff Zimmerman

All geneds are rather boring, but this one has been the worst so far. He speaks in such a strange tone, somewhat newscasterish. His class is basically only exams.. You really don't have to go to lecture, but you will fail every exam if you don't. I would advise taking a different professor for global perspectives if at all possible.

He is a really cool guy and pretty funny but his tests are a bit hard. He is very wordy and it just makes everything so confusing. He does not take attendance but you need to goto class in order to do good on his exams. Also, no final exam.

Jeff is awesome. I though it was extremely interesting, so much to the point that i am going to look into minoring in geography after taking him. He has a very good sense of humor, and i found myself laughing at something he said every lecture he gave. Tests are not the easiest thing in the world. The first two have a "give an example of" section which can be difficult if you dont go to class a whole lot. He gives 2 map quizzes that are extremely easy and count for about 20% of the grade. He relates to students very well; sometimes not the most prepared, but overall i LOVED his class, super interesting and not terribly difficult. Curves the class at the end of the semester as well.

Didn't know how i felt at the beginning of the semester about zimmerman. Kind of a weird sense of humor, and he definately favors girls over guys. He likes to use huge words a lot of the time to try to impress the class or something. Other than that he isn't too bad of a teacher. In human geo. we have 3 tests and two map quizes which were all pretty easy. Not a bad prof. to take

My experience taking Dr. Zimmerman's Urban Geography class was great. He's really got a flare for connecting with students in the classroom and he's also a really good speaker. I actually enjoyed sitting through the lectures, which is more than I can say for 95% of the classes I've taken at UW-W. While teaching material that can be politically divisive, Dr. Zimmerman stays pretty much as neutral as a good newscaster.
