Jo ellen Burkholder

Ok,I am a senior graduating with a degree in Marketing this semester.I will get all A's this semester (400-500 level marketing classes included), except for in this class, for which I will probably get a B (and sadly I had to work for that B). I am literally sitting in Professor Burkholder's class right now as she is droning on. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!! This class would be extremely interesting if presented properly. She is crazy,EXTREMELY unorganized and is a tough grader.She doesnt give ANY direction and Ive taught myself everything.You have to read the entire textbook to get all the content you need.She will just not show up to class and will fail to tell you not to come.One day we sat in class and looked at beads.Complete waste of my time.She thinks her class is VERY important and grades tough.I am sincerely trying to help you all, AVOID THIS CLASS! Also,she says the word "right?" like 500 times a class=annoying! Seems like a nice person but is scatter brained.

I read an earlier comment on how she was funny, and class was enjoyable for that fact. Let me tell you that she is definitely no funny in any way at all. You will laugh at her being ridiculous and crazy, but you will never laugh on how genuinely un-funny she is. Other than that, her class is extremely boring and tests are challenging. I took the class for an easy A, and struggled to get a B. Also, you will never get an A on the homework assignments. She will give out a few A's for the entire class, but the rest will be B's and C's. If you seek help outside of class, her e-mails are useless and will never help you. After taking this class with this professor, I could easily say that this is one of the worst professors I have ever had. If you are taking an international credit and are thinking of anthropology, don't take it with this professor.

If I ever knew what was going on in this class, it probably would have been interesting and fun. The lecture periods were split between watching obscure movies and talking about our favorite tv shows, not much of which referred to anything we were supposed to have learned. There were no notes, but there were three decent sized projects (that were somewhat related to the topics), and two essay exams that probably taught me more than anything.

She is a very interesting lady, and I laughed everyday I was in class with her. You just shouldn't take her too seriously. You do have to go to class, but you dont have to take overly complicated notes, because most of it is in the book. I do reccomend taking her as a teacher though, because she brings humor to situations most wouldnt laugh at. Dont be afraid to laugh at stupid jokes! It will make the semester go by a lot quicker. She is deffinately my favorite, and helped me to fall in love with Anthropology.

I signed up to learn about "Tombs Temples and Buried Treasures"... But all i got out of this class was "Jo Burkholder 101" She talked about herself and her job CONSTANTLY and I honestly didn't learn ANYTHING the course description said I would. She has the most random lectures, hides assignments and readings on D2L and expects YOU when to know to read/complete them. And her quizzes (granted they are online so its easy to grab a classmate to do them together) her quizzes are ridiculously difficult and have content that she NEVER even talked about in class... Stupid stupid stupid. Terrible professor.
