Cook is absolutely terrible. It's hard to find a place to begin. Her class lectures are excruciatingly boring; she reads straight from the power points and occasionally adds something from the book she wrote for the class. Class assignments are ridiculous, and the instructions are nowhere near crystal clear. For her tests, she says she likes to make the questions more 'higher level applications'. It becomes a multiple guessing game because at most two items could be correct. If you took the time to completely fill out the study guides for the tests, you would have your own book. She has way too much crap on there. Stay away at all costs.

Joan Cook is amazing!! I think she's a fabulous teacher. Although her class was challenging. The single best predictor of weather you'll do well is your attendance. You also must read.

I took this class (psych of adolescence) because I just wanted to learn more about kids/teens. Basically for fun. Big mistake. Unless you have to take her as a professor, don't. She doesn't always teach this class so try to get out of it. It's all power point lectures and really long boring readings. I'm a really good student and I just got a D on her exam. I do not recommend this professor. Unless you have a photographic memory of a textbook/80 slide power points.
