John Luecke
University of Wisconsin - Whitewater
Department:
Speech
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
Having been in the PR field for more than 13 years, I can tell you that Mr. Luecke is one of the best PR teachers out there. I recommend taking his classes as well as an internship through him. You will learn how to employ the class-taught tools in a real-world setting. His classes prepare you for this. You just need to be willing to take on the responsibility to do the work. If you're going into PR because you think it's easy, Mr. Luecke will probably suggest you change your major. Good luck!
I really don't understand the bad reviews that John has gotten on here. I absolutely adore him! I had him for Into to PR, and easily got an A. Had him again for Cross Cultural. I got a B in that, but he's an extremely fair grader. If you go to class, do the work, and prepare for the exams (which are difficult, I'll admit) you'll do just fine with John. If you don't want to go to class, do the work, or prepare for the exams, then why are you in college? This is what you signed up for. Also, he relates extremely well to students, even outside of the classroom. He's helped me out with my AR, picking classes, picking a minor, and even finding some internships to apply for, for which he helped my with my resume. John is definitely one of the best professor that I've had in my entire college career!

Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Comes to class organized
Best professors I've ever had!
Negative:
This is a horrible professor! He came off very arrogant in both of the classes I took with him (Intro to PR and Cross-Cultural). He reads directly off the powerpoint and does a horrible job of explaining what he's talking about. He tells students on the first day that the average test scores are in the 50's. He provides no study help and puts on the responsibility on the students to figure out what is going on in his head. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR!
Positive:
Negative:
Is a bad professor
Would not recommend this professor
Professor is boring or bland
Expectations are unclear or lofty
Overly difficult tests or assignments
Notes/lecture is confusing
Needs to involve students in class discussions
Lacks enthusiasm in the classroom
Makes class too challenging
Poor sense of humor
Professor does not relate to students
He really knows a lot about public relations but the class is just too boring. His tests are all on lecture.. so don't use the book to study for them. You must do all the extra credit possible.. that is the only way you can get a good grade. Just a boring class.. definitely changed my major after taking his class.

Do not take intro to public relations as an online course. It is extremely HARD!!! His tests are 50 questions of about 4-6 chapters and you only get 1 hour. you'd think it would be easy because it's an online class, NOT AT ALL!!! I do not recommend taking that class what so ever!
