John Werner
University of Wisconsin - Whitewater
Department:
Business
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
Many people complain about the difficulty of his exams, but if you study, you should have no problem getting an A. If you get to know him and establish a rapport, he can be funny. He's a nice guy and a great teacher but if you're lazy and don't wanna do any work, then don't take his class. I call him a slave driver, but I learn a lot in his class. He takes attendance every day and counts participation points. He keeps you the entire class period and has you do in-class assignments just about every day. His class is A LOT of work, but if you're willing to put in the work, there's no reason why you cannot get an A and learn a LOT in the process.
Professor Werner is in a world of his own. He brings a challange to the class but sometimes has too lofty of expectations. He lets you know when he is disappointed in you. He thinks he is funny which bring some humor to class. He test are ridicoulsly hard with sometimes having to do 7 essays in one exam. He is a good guy and means well and everybody could learn a great deal from him.

Professor Werner knows his material very well. I personally did not enjoy his teaching style, but other students did. If you are really into Human Resouces and want to learn, then he is the professor to take. His exams are pretty difficult, but nothing you will not survive. Make sure you read the text and attend EVERY class. Also participation kind of threw our class for a loop. If you participate (meaning= say something material related) once a class you will get perfect participation.

Negative:
Professor is boring or bland
Overly difficult tests or assignments
Jon is a great professor. He always challenges you to do your best. It is not easy to get an A in the class, but when you do, you leave the class with a command of the knowledge taught in the course. Tests are tough, but if you pay attention and study, they will come pretty easy. Jon cares about the students and is always willing to help at any time. He is very fair. I would definitely recommend him. I had him back to back semesters for my MBA program.
