Prof Emery seems really mean the first day but she's actually not. It's just a facade. Don't be afraid or fooled. She does have an attitude and a sarcastic sense of humor, but I like her. She's a good teacher and interested in helping students learn, but she doesn't put up with B.S. If you want to bring your laptop to class or text, then don't take Jolly Emery, if you want to actually pay attention and learn something, then take Jolly Emery.

I took her online for this class, and she does expect people to put in an effort. I hate when people say that they actually had to do work, but the work was very little. The subjects all seemed to intertwine so at some points, it seemed like we were going over the same things every week. There is a discussion online every week, and then 4 papers (about 2 pages each). If you have to take this class, I suggest online. You don't actually have to read the material, but often times, you will want to because the topic is very interesting. The work is busy work, so if you don't mind doing the same easy thing each week, then its great for you. As long as you participate in the online discussions and turn in the papers, you will get an A.

Do the reading and discuss during class, it makes it easier and much more enjoyable. Tests are not hard, if you just supply the evidence with your statement.

HOLY CRAP. the tests are so insanely hard you'll want to shoot yourself. they are 100% essay and she expects more information in an answer than the question itself asks for. She also grades the tests under a microscope. I believe she gave out 1 A grade for ever 4 F's and 1 B for ever 2 D's. not exactly the normal bell curve.
