I think some of our professors love to talk about how tough biology is and ....if you don't like it drop your major....most of the greatest discoveries were by pure luck...just being in the right place at the right time or investigating the right topic.....Enstien made a wonderful contribution although his teachers said of him that he was backwards and a horrible student....graduate school is were a person specializes...these intro classes should never be this hard...some of us will go onto molecular biology, ecology, and so on, then we'll specialize....it is sad when our professors make these classes so hard that it turns many students off from biology, when that same student could've been that lucky person to be investigating the right topic at the right time...we need more biologists and people in the sciences to continue adding to the small amount of knowledge we have. The course is way too difficult for a intro to genetics course. Yes, you will learn a great deal and it will help you if you are going into genetics, but otherwise if your interests are in another area of biology I would suggest taking another professor...I wish you the best of luck....
Dr. Crossgrove is really great professor! She knows what she is talking about and wants everyone to do well. The tests are difficult but if you study hard, you will do fine!

Negative:
She is a good professor on a harder subject. Yeah, you're going to have to study but you would with any Bio 120 teacher. SI is offered and that is great to go to. Crossgrove is open to discussion and is willing to stop the lecture and re-go-over things if you don't understand. She is pretty friendly and understanding. You have to do a lot of studying to do well on the exams but she provides previous exams to study from and a study guide! Utilize those and study more than just the night before and you should be able to get a decent grade.

Negative:
Overly difficult tests or assignments
I can see where she can go over the heads of someone who is not a biology major, but for a biology major taking genetics, she is fantastic. You quickly realize that she really enjoys what she does (even if flies and worms can weird people out a bit) and she wants people to understand the material. The class is challenging but it is worth it in the end.

Crossgrove is a very nice lady who's always willing to help her students. I studied my butt off in her class & did okay. Don't expect to just glide through her courses w/o putting in any time or effort! My only real criticism is that her tests did not accurately reflect what we spent time learning.
