Larry Anderson
University of Wisconsin - Whitewater
Department:
Political Science
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
Larry Anderson is very nice and you can tell he really loves to teach, but he uses the text book's exams. This means things discussed in class have absolutely nothing to do with the material you'll be tested on. I had to rely on a combination of past knowledge from high school government classes, google, and hoping that the notes I took from the book were helpful. Even then I was lucky to pull off a low B average between his four tests. He's a good professor but I really wish he would change his tests!
Professor Anderson is an awesome person and very helpful, especially as an academic adviser. As a professor, he does know what he's talking about but I will say, his exams can be quite difficult. He even says the average grade for his class is a 73%. If you read, do your work, you should be able to get at least a C+. Very few people will get an A but its very hard to fail. I got a C+ in PoliSci 321 with him, more so is I didn't put enough effort in and I didn't like the subject. I got a B in PoliSci 344, I put some more effort in than I did in PoliSci 321, which is why I got a better grade. Work hard get a good grade, be lazy... not so good of a grade.
Positive:
I would recommend this professor
Is challenging
Motivates students to do well
Shows a love of teaching
Has enthusiasm in the classroom
Negative:
Overly difficult tests or assignments
Makes class too challenging
Prof. Andrson really knows his stuff. Discussion is the name of the game, he hardly lectrues which means you have to read the book, but the book is not bad and all the exams are online. He brings current event subject matter into class and tries to involve every student. He really makes you think about the subject matter and put your two cents in. It is an easy class, there is one paper due at semester on a book, but he even admited if you write something that is relavent to the subject, you will most liekly get a good grade. I would reccomend this professor for this class.
