Neuman is a good professor. He takes attendance everyday and there is a handout(Q's on D2L,Txt book, or video Q's) every single class period that he will give you at the end of class every day that has to be done for the next class. This gets super rough because they are lengthy assignments but not overly hard. He lets you out of class at least a couple mins late everyday. His exams are on D2L which is a plus. He responds to emails very quick and is always willing to help. Overall, I would recommend him even if it is a lot of work.

Positive:

Great teaching methods/approach

I would recommend this professor

Is interesting/entertaining/funny

Brings discussion into the classroom

Shows a love of teaching

Involves students in every lecture

Has enthusiasm in the classroom

Comes to class organized

Neuman isn't too bad of a prof. He really knows his stuff, and you can tell he loves teaching. There are 3 exams and 2 exam essays for every exam you have (so 6 exam essay questions that have to be 2-3 pages in length). He also has you write 10 reation paper. He takes attendence every day, and once you miss 2 classes, you get docked a full letter grade -- so GO TO CLASS if you expect to do well! He's very fast at responding to e-mails and is willing to help students and try to make lectures as simple as possible. You don't have to take notes because he puts all lecture notes on d2l. All exams are on d2l, and all papers are submitted through d2l. His exams are extremely hard. You have 35 minutes for 26 question, and 4 bonus points (so 30 questions total). His exam questions are about 2 paragraphs long so chances are you won't even read half of the questions asked on the exam. Oh, and he is very boring. It's so hard to pay attention to his lectures in class.

Positive:

Is challenging

Shows a love of teaching

Shows a great knowledge of subject matter

Comes to class organized

Negative:

Professor is boring or bland

Overly difficult tests or assignments

Makes class too challenging

Whoever said larry's class is hard must've been smoking something. This class is not hard at all. His quizzes are a joke and he gives you examples that show exactly how to do the assignments. The only way you won't get at least a B is if your retarded or if you skip class all the time. He takes attendance and his class is boring as hell, but if you show up, you'll do fine.

Soc. Analysis is required for Sociology majors and Neuman is probably as good as any for this fundamentally dry class. His jokes were usually somewhat lame and he makes lots of strange sexual references in his examples, but his laugh is great and if you laugh at him, he loves it and gets REALLY excited! The girl that sat next to me up in the front of the class would chuckle at his jokes and he would just give her a weird stare and get all excited that he made someone laugh. IT WAS GREAT! Anyway, it is a ton of work... Project 2 took me at least 12 hours to complete, Project 3 was a field study that was at least 8-10 hours, and Project 1 was a group deal where we had to survey people. Quizzes are online, and quite easy if you prepare adequately. Assignments are also time-consuming, but several of them led into the Projects, so it was two birds with one stone. Final was all online and had old quiz questions VERBATIM so if you can figure out a way to save the quiz questions, you are GOLDEN for the final! Oh yeah... he gave numerous people extentions on due dates and spent a great deal of time helping people with assignments before and after class. I would also get there super-early and he is a religous email user, so you can always get him there. Bring other forms of entertainment for lectures, he just covers powerpoints (which we could download anyway) and it is BOOORING.

I didn't think Professor Neuman was all that bad. His lectures are usually pretty boring, but he attempts to make jokes and get the students laughing. Even if I didn't laugh too hard at the joke, I would laugh at how he inhales through his nose when he gets excited. Some of his assignments take a little too much time, but he is fast at giving them (and papers) back. He is also willing to help students outside the classroom and is really good at accommodating students. You will get a lot of work in this class, but if you can manage your time wisely and work hard, you will do fine! This class consists of three projects/papers (a paper goes along with each project), 8 online quizzes, midterm/final, five assignments, and a small group presentation. Oh yeah, and Professor Neuman gives about 4 or more class periods off just so you can have time to work on his projects! Very nice!
