Leon Arriola
University of Wisconsin - Whitewater
Department:
Mathematics
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
this class isnt really difficult and the better you are at math the easier it will be but he is really boring and gives examples that would be more appropriate for second graders. its really hard to stay awake and hes not very organized.
Class average was an F. No curve, so a majority of the class failed.
Positive:
Is willing to help students anytime
Negative:
Is a bad professor
Would not recommend this professor
Overly difficult tests or assignments
Notes/lecture is confusing
Needs to involve students in class discussions
Does not make class challenging enough
Professor Arriola is a easy class if you know how to teach your self. the tests and quizzes are not too bad but he is very hard to understand because his meathods are completely absurd. he pretty much wears the same shirts to class everytime.

I really connect with the way Arriola explains things, I appreciate how he's willing to go over the same material again and again in order to make sure I really "get it", and I like how down-to-earth he is. I don't like his testing style -- most of the quizzes and exams have been multiple choice, which sucks because it's all or nothing. (But actually, that saved my butt on the first test, so maybe I shouldn't complain... I guess that testing style can cut both ways.) He does seem rather inflexible in terms of grading, although those of us who showed up to class on some random Fridays did get some extra credit, which I hope will help me out in the long run. I really appreciate the fact that we get to use formula sheets and a cheat sheet for the final. Overall, the material's not overly difficult and Arriola's got a great way of explaining things. I wish I could take him for calc next semester...
