Mark Eiswerth
University of Wisconsin - Whitewater
Department:
Economics
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
Doc Eiswerth is hands down a great teacher. I laughed everyday in his classes. If you sit in the front row chances are he will give you a nickname. He enjoys economics and only gets tough if you don't seem to be enjoying it as well. If you act like you are interested, these classes are a breeze, if you just read the royal purple all class period they will probably go by pretty slowly. Just try and have fun and you will, its impossible not to if you listen to him.
No matter what, Econ 201 sucks...so if you have to take it, take this guy. His class is really boring and he tries to be funny sometimes, but overall he's a great professor. You will have online assignments (Aplia), but for the most part aren't too difficult. Take him!
Positive:
Good professor.
I would recommend this professor
Shows a love of teaching
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Negative:
If you learn a lot from boring, long lectures...then TAKE him! If not...I do not advise you to take him.
Positive:
Is challenging
Shows a love of teaching
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Negative:
Is a bad professor
Would not recommend this professor
Professor is boring or bland
Confusing or hard to understand
Needs to involve students in class discussions
Overall he is a pretty good professor for a class that just flat out sucks. He took the class at a nice pace and was always there to help. Nice guy, probaly better than some of the alternatives.
Positive:

I would recommend this professor
Is challenging

Is willing to help students anytime
Shows a love of teaching
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Has enthusiasm in the classroom
Comes to class organized
Negative:
Dr. Eiswerth truly wants his students to succeed. He takes it hard when the class average for an exam is anywhere less than 70%, which happened on our first exam. To offset the poor scores of the class as a whole, he will curve the exams, give "review" tests that are composed entirely of questions for the upcoming exam, and then take time give out answers to the review packet. Still, some people do poorly. If you pay attention, put in some work outside of class (looking at online notes) , and study a reasonable amount for tests...you should have no problem. I got an "A" as an incoming freshman with no econ experience in high school. In this class, effort is what seperates the A's and B's from the D's and F's.
Positive:
