This was Professor Vick's first semester teaching and overall he did a good job. There are 8 assignments throughout the semester that he calls tasks. At the beginning it doesn't seem too bad but the last month of the semester is a lot of work. Two assignments are teaching a lesson to the college class and teaching a lesson to an elementary class. I put a lot of work into every task and came out with 100/100 in the class. So I'm not sure if I exceeded his expectations or what. I'm not complaining about the grade but his expectations are definitly unclear. He doesn't explain anything so you kind of just do the assignment and hope for the best. He does a great job of covering everything needed and seems to be very organized! We had two speakers throughout the semester that were awesome! I'd recommend taking him. As he gets more experienced I'm sure this class will be awesome!
Another professor that taught their first semester in Whitewater...and he wasn't so bad either. Class became boring after a while when it was constantly read articles and discuss in class (we did that for about 5-8 weeks in the semester). The homework load is very little until you hit the end with the science lesson plans (1 for classroom and 1 for elementary school--to which you then teach in the schools) reflections, and video editing. It would have been nice to go over these projects a bit more than just a week before actually starting to think about the final things in the class. It isn't really a hard class at all, but there were times where I felt like I wouldn't be able to "connect" things to science. Apparently, I was also told he never actually taught elementary/middle school science which kind of defeats the purpose of teaching the class which is about science in the elementary/middle school. In the end, I did take some knowledge with me so I can't say he was entirely bad, but there's always room for improvement.
