Olesya Ostapenko
University of Wisconsin - Whitewater
Department:
English/Literature
Professors: Respond to evaluations by creating an account
She is very moody. One day you come to class and think she could be your best friend and the next she is snippy. However, the class is pretty interesting and if you do the reading and work you can get a good grade. You have to attend every class because there is a quiz or assignment in every class. Lots of points so you can make up for poor assignments/quizzes. She was not very good at answering questions because she encourages questions and then when you ask one she'll say "I don't know how else to explain that... I don't see what you don't understand." It sometimes makes you feel stupid.

First of all, she's is not even a qualified english professor...she is a linguist. She is very crabby when no one participates in class and is very vague in assignment details.

Dr. Ostapenko is usually vague with her essay assignments and lacks giving enough detail for any sort of requirements. The day to day work is simple, but she will put up assignments last minute on D2L and expect you to do them. She's not the worst but she's certainly not the best. She has lived in the U.S. for only about five years, and I feel that she is out of her field. I also have read that she is much better as a Russian teacher.
