Peter Conover

Dr. Conover is easily the nicest professor you will meet at UWW. While I very much enjoyed his class, I didn't find it as challenging or beneficial as I had hoped. We were required to film and edit our ads, which were then graded, but we weren't actually taught much to help us do it. Due dates were always pushed back at least a week. Anyone that has any experience in filming/editing will easily do well in the class. So while it is a fun class, it's worth to your future career is questionable. Dr. Conover also seems to be a little behind on his technology, and is a bit timid at times, but he couldn't be nicer or more accommodating.

Professor Conover is the sweetest guy you'll meet, as a teacher he'll do anything to accommodate you if you need help. really open-minded...but i hate to say it--i don't feel like i really LEARNED too much in his classes. he's a little (okay, a lot) behind on the times, and just kind of gives you a camera and tells you to push the record button. man, i'm so going to hell for saying such mean things about such a nice guy!

The guy has some serious issues with thechnology (i.e. he doesn't know how to play DVDs). But it was a good class. If you aren't a total moron, you'll get an A. I was very pissed that we didn't watch Ingmar Bergman's "Persona". The movie we watched instead called "Hiroshima Mon Amour" was tedious and pretentious.

Prof. Conover is one of those teachers that has a great deal of passion for what he does and it really shows. Most (but not all) of the movies we watched were in black and white. A few were really bland, but most were quite interesting to see. Just because a movie is in black and white doesn't mean it's horrible! Conover is a great professor and is always willing to thoroughly explain what he says.

Unless you're a huge film buff, I would definately not reccommend this class! All you do is watch black and white movies with subtitles. A majority of the class never stays the entire time because there are better things to be doing. The first test wasn't bad, but the second one was all short answer, and by short answer, that means short paragraphs. ONLY take this class if you really, REALLY like old movies!
