I have taken every class available that Jacobs teaches... and to all of the people complaining about 210 and how hard it was... if you thought that class was difficult, you might as well drop out of college. Seriously, save yourself the money. I would recommend taking jacob's upper level classes, he gets to know people on a more personal level and is just an overall great guy. His tests can be difficult if you didn't prepare, but I've gotten A's and B's in his classes. If you want the guy to like you, just talk to him about your love affair with loess, you are guarenteed a B or better.

Jacobs is very knowledgable but he doesn't do a very good job getting that across to the students. He's lecture notes are horrible! He does powerpoints for his lectures but its just all pictures and he expects you to write down your own notes. When he talks he talks in one non-stop sentence the whole lecture period so its really hard to know what is important and what is not. Because he doesn't have written notes or doesn't tell you what is worthy of being written down his exams are hard. Its impossible to know what to study. You end up having to study everything and then he usually just focuses on one small detail for the whole exam. He's lectures are pretty boring. He trys to make jokes but no one laughs and no one gets them. He has a hard time connecting with students. Also if you email him a question he will point you on in class the next day- really makes you not want to ask questions. I would prob stay away from him and take someone else if you could.

Positive:

Is willing to help students anytime

Shows a great knowledge of subject matter

Comes to class organized

Negative:

Is a bad professor

Would not recommend this professor

Professor is boring or bland

Confusing or hard to understand

Expectations are unclear or lofty

Notes/lecture is confusing

Poor sense of humor

Professor does not relate to students

Dr. Jacobs is one of my favorite professors in my 3.5 years so far at UWW. He has a passion for what he teaches, and it shows in the classroom. His exams are mostly from the powerpoints which are all available on D2L.

This class is hard as hell, I had to bust my butt and kiss up a lot, but I got through it. If you don't mind being challenged, Peter is a good prof. You should definitely avoid him if you are lazy, because if you slack off, you are guaranteed an f. He will not let you get away with slacking off at all. But he is a good prof because he forces you to learn.

He's easy to learn from. I enjoy class because he applies the content to everyday things we tend to overlook. I would recommend that students take his classes.
