Richard Schraufanagel

Ok... well I'll start by saying he is a nice man if you talk to him, and he is mediocre as a lab instructor. Having said that....This guy is either severly depressed or just really lazy. Everything he does he screws up, and it doesn't even seem to phase him. He acknowledges the mistake, does nothing to fix it, and moves on. Having covered the material he was teaching in highschool i was able to see through his terrible teaching. One of the saddest things about the whole class was that it looked like he was even so lazy that he didn't care how he looked.... he honestly looked like a bum who stumbled across a pair of nice clothes. Half way through the semester I stopped going for two reasons. First because I could teach myself better than he could, and secondly cuz looking at the guy and listening to him actually started to depress me.

chemistry for the consumer class was very unorganized. I was a note taker and it was hard to follow him with his power points. he had so many of them and they were never in the order that they were on D2L like the other professors for this class. he had power point slide from all over the place and well a deep lack of organization was his problem.

I have to agree with the comment about lack of respect from students. I always felt (and still feel) bad for the guy because he is such a nice man that is so willing to help out but students just trash him all the time. I give him loads of respect just for still going in and teaching day after day.

He is so understanding about absescneces for lab as long as you email him he'll work with you to make sure that you're on track. I've never had that kind of attention since middle school.

Dr. Schraufnagel is pretty cool. I had the lab at 8:00 A.M., and he seemed to respect the fact that not a lot of college students enjoy getting up that early for classes. He explains everything very well, and is not upset if you have to ask him again. He's very amiable, and you can go to ask him pretty much anything about the class, lecture or lab.
